Zoocci Coke Dope first achieved recognition as the producer of Blaklez’s “Freedom Or Fame”. He sang the hook on Big Star Johnson’s single “Just to Flex” which was the theme song for the second season of the popular rap show The Hustle.
The release of Zoocci Coke Dope’s first EP Morning Star introduced him to the music industry as a certified Hip Hop artist and producer. The EP features contributions from Stogie T, Kid X, A-Reece and Ginger Trill.
Blxckie is originally from Durban, South Africa where he was born and raised, he often visited Johannesburg. In 2020, he found himself “stuck” in Johannesburg when the country went on a 21-day lockdown, but later said it was a “blessing”.
In an interview with Jade Kelly, he commented that he felt there was a disconnect between South African artists and their fans, saying “it’s almost like when an artist blows up or gets a little bit of fame that goes straight to their head. But what they forget is that the fans will always be the thing that stands between you and greatness. As much as they love the music, we need them to keep listening if we want to stick around, and that’s what I’m all about.”
Blxckie has collaborated with South African artists such as Nasty C, Yanga Chief, DJ Maphorisa and K.O, as well as the Nigerian-born CKay. That same year, he won Freshman of the year at the South African Hip Hop Awards 2021. His album B4Now was nominated for album of the year and his single “Ye x4” was nominated for song of the year and best collaboration at the South African Hip Hop Awards 2021.
Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo (born 11 February 1997), known professionally as Nasty C, is a South African rapper, songwriter, and record producer.
After releasing three mixtapes, one being “Undisputed” and two EPs, Ngcobo released his debut album Bad Hair (2016), and Strings and Bling (2018) which was associated and supported by his first tour, The Ivyson Tour.
He was the youngest recipient of an award at the 2015 South African Hip Hop Awards, namely the Best Freshman Award.[5][6]
In March 2020, Nasty C signed a joint venture deal with Def Jam Records, and released his United States official single after joining Def Jam, “There They Go”, which gained him global recognition, he then released his third album on 28 August 2020, and his first on the label which is titled Zulu Man with Some Power (2020).
