Heavy K is a South African DJ and producer who rose to prominence in the middle part of the 2010s with his rhythmic electronic Afro-house tracks. Through hit singles like 2013’s “Easy to Love” featuring Bucie, and 2017’s “Inde,” he built an international audience for his ongoing series of Respect the Drumboss albums. Born Mkhululi Siqula in Port Elizabeth, he literally stumbled into a recording session as a teenager while running an errand to a friend’s house. Heavy K attended Mzimhlophe Public primary school and did some part of his primary school at Emfundeni. He later attended his secondary school education at Ndzondelelo secondary School.
Heavy K got his major breakthrough when he produced Professor’s “Lento” song at the age of 16. Although music had started for him at a very young age, when he developed interest after walking in on a recording session, when his brother sent him on an errand. He later taught himself to be a music composer, producer, songwriter and a DJ.

In 2009 Heavy K met with Oskido, a legendary producer and DJ who had a major impact on his career. At first Oskido gave him the tip to totally focus on music because of his talent. Oskido also made place in his I Believe program, so that Heavy K could learn to be a better music producer and DJ himself. The two worked together on the big track Woza Nana which was released in 2013.
